A new principal was hired for Nathan Hale-Ray School at the Aug. 25 East Haddam Board of Education meeting.

According to Supt. Dr. Ellen Solek, the board voted unanimously to appoint Eric Spencer.

Spencer was hired last January as a Guidance Counselor at Hale-Ray after previously serving as Dean of Students for eight years at Guilford High School.

“As one of two finalists for the principal position, Mr. Spencer brings a wealth of experience and a passion for educational leadership in the 21st century,” Solek said.

Spencer began his new position right away, and was on hand today [Sept. 1] to welcome students to a new school year.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ellen Solek said, “Mr. Spencer is a valuable addition to our high school and to our leadership team in the East Haddam district. We are very pleased to welcome him as the new high school principal.”
