The East Haddam Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, for exercise classes, lunch, quilting, computer classes, games and socializing.

Residents age 50 and over are invited visit the center and see what we have to offer. The Senior Center is located at 15 Great Hillwood Road in the Moodus section of East Haddam.

Here are some special events planned for January 2011 –

  • Jan. 20 – Blood drive from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m .
  • Jan. 21 – Trip to Windham Tech (culinary arts) for lunch, $ 15 ($10 for meal plus $5 for bus) Pre-registration required. Call 860-5034.
  • Jan. 24 – Annual “Souper Bowl” party, $ 3, and the public is welcome to join us. Call 860-873-5034 for info.

Need a ride?

Bus transportation is available in January and February for shopping, errands, trips to Mohegan Sun and city trips.

Contact the Senior center at 860-873-5034  for details and to make reservations.

Also, call the center for details about, and reservations for, the medical car service.

Mark your calendar

The VNA holds a free blood pressure clinic from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the second Thursday of each month. This month, it is Jan. 13.

Out-of-town shopping trips are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. This month, it is Jan. 26.
