In East Haddam, you can vote for The Best Seat in Town

Just two of the decorated benches that will be on display the first two weeks of October and then auctioned by the town's Lions to raise funds for Heritage Park at the Senior Center. Contributed photos.
No, we’re not talking about elections – yet. What we’re talking about are some very cool benches.
Very soon, you will notice these beautiful, artistically decorated benches depicting the sights and landmarks of East Haddam and Moodus showing up around town.
These benches will be on display at the Senior Center, the Gristmill Market, Rathbun Memorial Library, East Haddam Public Library, Shagbark, M.P. Impressions, Nathan Hale Pharmacy and Chestelm.
Make sure to see them all, and then vote on which bench you think is The Best Seat in Town.
You also have an opportunity to own the Best Seat in Town by bidding for it at the upcoming auction.
This is a joint venture of the East Haddam Community Lions and the East Haddam Lions clubs to raise funds for Heritage Park at the Senior Center.
Voting begins Oct. 1 and continues through Oct. 14.
Just go to the East Haddam Community Lions Web site at www.ehcl.org and click on the word Benches.
Or you can vote the old-fashioned way – on paper – by visiting the Gristmill Market, Rathbun Memorial Library, East Haddam Public Library, Shagbark or Nathan Hale Pharmacy.
You may also vote the evening when the benches will be auctioned.
On Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at “On the Rocks” at Fox Hopyard, all benches will be sold to the highest bidder and the winner of the “Best Seat in Town” will be announced.
The ticket price for the auction, open bar and hors d’oeuvres is $30 per person.
Tickets may be purchased from any Lion member or you can call 860-873-2264. If you cannot make it to the auction, you can still call this number and place your highest allowable bid.
