The East Haddam Farmers’ Market Committee invites you to an extra special farmer’s market, Kids Day, on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

The market will host children’s activities and youth vendors from 4 to 7 p.m. at the market, located at 488 Town Street (Route 151) – on the grounds of the Grange Hall.

The 4-H Club and FFA will coordinate the event, with pony rides, an opportunity to visit with goats, bunnies and chickens, a strolling balloon artist and face painting.

Kid-friendly musical entertainment is also planned.

And come ready to shop for the freshest local foods.

The September harvest from the farms includes corn, squash and tomatoes, and there will be bakery items from Great Bread, Maple Breeze Farm meat, soaps, spices, knit crafts and wool products.

Shoreline Roasters and The Rolling Tomato Brick Oven Pizza will offer to-go items.

The East Haddam Farmers’ Market is held from 4 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday in September. Fall hours of 3 to 6 p.m. begin in October.

CT Dept of Ag to crack down on misuse of Connecticut Grown label

CONNECTICUT GROWN logo CT Dept Ag 2013

“While we do not believe misuse of the Connecticut Grown label is widespread, we recognize that trust is quickly damaged in the rare instances it does occur. Strict protection of the Connecticut Grown brand protects not only consumers seeking out local foods and other agricultural products, but also the thousands of honest farm families in Connecticut working long, hard hours each day to produce those items.” – CT Agriculture Commissioner Stephen Reviczky
