On Tuesday, Oct. 23, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy will attend a ceremony celebrating the rededication of the Arrigoni Bridge, which carries Route 66 over the Connecticut River between Middletown and Portland.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. on the Portland side of the Bridge on Main Street.

The bridge, originally opened in 1938, is now fully reopened following completion of the final phase of an extensive rehabilitation project.

At Tuesday’s ceremony, there will be an unveiling of the bridge’s original 1938 sign that will be remounted along the sidewalk in the middle of the bridge.

Also attending the ceremony will be U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, Middletown Mayor Dan Drew, Portland First Selectwoman Susan S. Bransfield, Department of Transportation Commissioner James P. Redeker, Middlesex Chamber of Commerce President Larry McHugh, and other state and local officials.

Parking for the ceremony will be provided along right side of Main Street.

Earlier in the day, at 10 a.m., the governor will give welcoming remarks – which will include a discussion on his recently unveiled comprehensive energy strategy – at the start of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) 2012 Annual Convention at the Connecticut Convention Center; 100 Columbus Boulevard, in Hartford.
