Stories from the past come to light during a guided tour of the historic cemetery adjacent to the First Church of Christ Congregational in East Haddam.

The tour will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.

It will be followed by a soup and chowder dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, located at 499 Town Street (Route 151) in East Haddam.

Donations are welcome for the tour, and for the soup and chowder dinner – proceeds will benefit the East Haddam Fuel Bank.

“Come meet the rich and the famous, hear stories of hauntings, tragic deaths, shipwrecks, madness, suicide and murder,” says Dr. Karl P. Stofko, who will lead the tour.

Dr. Stofko, who serves as cemetery president and superintendent, also is the official historian for the 300-year-old First Church and is municipal historian for the town of East Haddam, CT.
