Iacobelli chosen as superintendent of East Haddam schools

Mary Beth Iacobelli, of Berlin, who has served as the East Haddam school district’s interim superintendent since July 1, 2012 has been chosen by the East Haddam Board of Education to fill the permanent position.
Her appointment is officially effective July 1, 2013.
Dr. Iacobelli previously was Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services from September 2009 – July 2012 in the New Britain, CT School District.
Her experience also includes teaching in elementary and middle schools, serving as a Special Education department chair, as a middle school Assistant Principal and as Principal of New Britain’s Vance Village Elementary School / Consolidated School District from July 2004 – September 2009.
Dr. Iacobelli received her Doctorate in Education Leadership and her 6th Year Degree from Central Connecticut State University. In 2010, she was honored with the Outstanding CCSU Alumni Leadership award.
She also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Computing from the University of Hartford, as well as an M.S. in Learning Disabilities and a B.S. in Special Education – both from Southern Connecticut State University.
According to the statement issued by the Board of Education, while serving as interim-Superintendent in East Haddam, Iacobelli has worked on aligning its curriculum to the Common Core State Standards, developed a framework to align goals and priorities across the district with a focus on educational improvement, and has become involved in the East Haddam community.
