On Thursday, April 4, a team made up of local community leaders, coaches, civic leaders and others will face the Harlem Ambassadors in a match of skill and comedy.

The Harlem Ambassadors travel around the country and entertain audiences with slam dunks, basketball-handling tricks and comedy.

This will be a night of family fun and everyone can get involved.

The Rotary Club of East Hampton has invited the Ambassadors to come and deliver a positive message about staying in school and saying NO to drugs and alcohol.

Plan to bring your friends and family on April 4 at 7 p.m. at the East Hampton High School.

Tickets are $5 per person and all proceeds will benefit the annual Rotary Scholarships.

The committee also is inviting players to join our team who have high energy, are over 19 years old and not currently playing on a basketball team.  Please contact John Tuttle to sign up and be a part of our team at jtuttle@sfgtrust .com

Note, Harlem Ambassadors is not associated with any other Harlem-style show.

The Harlem Ambassadors have all played college basketball and have college degrees in fields ranging from exercise science to counseling rehabilitation.

Everyone attending the Harlem Ambassadors game will have the opportunity to meet the Ambassadors during the complimentary autograph signing following the game. All of the Ambassadors are college-educated and drug-free and are excellent role models for young people. Publicity photo.

Each season (Sept-May) they perform approximately 250 fundraising games and entertainment events for non-profit organizations, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, Chambers of Commerce, the Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity and the U.S. military; 2012-13 marks the Harlem Ambassadors’ 15th touring season.

The Ambassadors have played in all 50 states and 20 countries.

The Harlem Ambassadors show is fun for audiences of all ages. Audience members, especially children, will have the opportunity to participate in interactive games between the quarters and during half-time.

Kids can look up to the Ambassadors as great role models who are college-educated and drug-free.

Everyone will have the opportunity to meet the Ambassadors after the game and get autographs from all of the players during the complimentary autograph session.

CT Dept of Ag to crack down on misuse of Connecticut Grown label

“While we do not believe misuse of the Connecticut Grown label is widespread, we recognize that trust is quickly damaged in the rare instances it does occur. Strict protection of the Connecticut Grown brand protects not only consumers seeking out local foods and other agricultural products, but also the thousands of honest farm families in Connecticut working long, hard hours each day to produce those items.” – CT Agriculture Commissioner Stephen Reviczky
