“Take the Time” Mobile Offers Free Mammograms

August 18, 2014 Feature, Local News No Comments

No matter who you are, chances are that breast cancer has affected you or someone you know. Checkups are important to catch symptoms early, and the Peszynski family is doing all they can to help provide access to the mammograms that can be critical for early detection of the disease. On September 20th, the “Take the Time” Mammography Mobile will be making its next appearance at the family’s garden shop, Paul’s and Sandy’s Too, located at 93 East High Street in East Hampton. The mobile offers free mammograms to women over the age of 40 who have not had a mammogram within the past 12 months. TaketheTime

The “Take the Time” Mobile is funded by the Sandy Peszynski Breast Cancer Foundation, which was started by Karen Peszynski Clark and her family. Sandy, Karen’s mother and the namesake of the foundation as well as the family’s shop, passed away in 2007 from breast cancer after a twenty-five year battle against the disease. The foundation raises funds through efforts such as the annual Pumpkintown festival, a fantasy village complete with pumpkin-headed inhabitants that runs each year from late September through Halloween, and donates 100 percent of the proceeds to Hartford and Middlesex Hospitals. The “Take the Time” Mobile, a service provided by Hartford Hospital, is one of the benefits of the foundation’s donated funds.

Mammograms from the “take the Time” Mobile must be prescheduled. Women interested in making an appointment may contact Karen Peszynski Clark at 860-267-0143.   The mobile will be on-site from 9 am to 1:30 pm.  For further information, click here to visit the event’s page on Facebook.  To learn more about the Sandy Peszynski Breast Cancer Foundation, visit the website at www.spbcf.com.
