The announcement of two separate grants that will help protect East Haddam lakes from invasive and destructive plant species is a welcome thing according to Rep. Melissa Ziobron (R).
One grant totaling $9,050 from the state will be used toward mitigating invasive plants in Lake Hayward, a naturally spring-fed lake that encompasses 174 acres and is 1.5 miles long, by a half mile wide, with a depth up to 37 feet.
